The organizing committee of the Young African Leaders Summit, under the auspices of the Young Global Leaders Network (YGLN), looks forward to welcoming you at YALS 2027! We are thrilled to be hosting you and other emerging leaders from around the world.

🛂 Visa

You are entreated to check as soon as possible with the Ghana embassy or high commission in your country regarding visa/entry requirements and apply for visa if you require one at least 4 weeks before your departure.

Please use your invitation letter to apply for your visa. We will be happy to provide additional visa support letter if required. Do send us a request if necessary.

🏨 Accommodation

The YALS 2027 organising committee has arranged for accommodation for 200 local residents and foreign delegates. We have 200 accommodation slots available on a first pay, first served basis.

Accommodation shall be two (2) delegates sharing one room with double beds. This is to encourage networking.

Foreign delegates are expected to arrive on 19th November 2027.

Resident locals or Ghanaian Residents are expected to arrive at their hotel/hostel on 19th November 2027.

Foreign delegates and resident local delegates are expected to depart by 12:00 GMT of 23rd November 2027.

Details of hotels/hostels will be made available a month before the Summit. Please note that accommodation remains unchanged once allocated a room. You can however arrange for your own accommodation.

Anyone wishing to extend their stay does so on their own budget and arrangements. Delegates will be allocated either a double bedroom (sharing with one other delegate, 2 in a room) or a single room in either a hostel or hotel.

✈️ Airport, Help desk & Protocols

There will be a welcome kiosk and a protocol team to receive foreign delegates at the Airport on 19th November 2027.

Delegates are to book their air travel into Accra 'ACC' which is Accra's main international airport (Kotoka International Airport).

🚌 Transportation

There will be shuttle buses to and from the airport as well as from the hotels/hostels (for those we are accommodating) to the summit auditorium in Accra each day of the summit.

Schedules and operational information relating to this will be communicated in due time.

While we will always keep an updated version of the programme on the summit website, you will be receiving comprehensive details at the event.

Depending on your interests, we will assign you to a focused group for our breakout sessions.

ℹ️ General Information

🏦 Currency & Banking

The currency used in Ghana is the cedis.

👔 Dress Code

Business casual, African print or T-Shirt is suggested, with comfortable footwear. You're reminded to carry a country flag.

🔐 Accreditation

Once accredited, we will create a personalised participant badge/tag for you. This badge must be always clearly visible for security and access control. Bring a valid government-issued ID to collect your badge.

🌐 Translation

All sessions will be translated simultaneously in two official languages: English and French. Breakout sessions will have assigned interpreters.

🏥 Safety & Healthcare

Insurance for medical, travel, or any other purpose is your responsibility. Accra is a safe city. Ghana Police Service and National Ambulance Service will be on-site for emergencies.

🌍 Country Directors

We have appointed Country Directors for each country to provide leadership support, assist with welfare, and coordinate travel arrangements. Reach out to your representative via the YALS website.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to receive confirmation or invitation letter after registration?

If you meet the eligibilities, you should get a response from the selection team within 10 to 20 working days of registration. First check the spam folder of your email. Reach out to us if there are unexplained delays.

Are there any funding or sponsorship packages for participants?

Yes! We offer Partial Funding which is available for applicants to select during the application stage. Additionally, we fund local transport, accommodation and feeding out of the summit fees you pay. Unfortunately, we're unable to sponsor costs of international flights and visa processing. You can source for your own funding based on the letters we will give you.

I applied. Does this mean I'm qualified to attend the summit?

Only paid up members/delegates who are issued an invitation and registration number are eligible to participate.

Will translation services be available during the summit?

Translation will be provided in English and French during the opening, closing ceremonies, presentations, keynote and panel sessions.

Do I need to apply for a visa?

Some attendees will need to apply for a visa. A visa may be obtained from Consulates or other Embassies authorized by the Government of Ghana to issue visas on her behalf. Find out if you need a visa for your trip to the Summit.

When should I send in my visa application? How long does it take?

Processing times vary depending on the visa office and the time of the year. Participants are encouraged to apply as soon as their registration is confirmed to ensure they receive the visa in time.

Does YALS give assistance for visa acquisition?

Having confirmed you as a participant, we will issue to you an official letter or other relevant information to enable you process your visa. We have made arrangements with various foreign missions. Contact your consulates.

How can my organization become a partner/sponsor?

We're open to partnerships that are in line with our vision. To support YALS 2027, contact partner@yglnetwork.com.

Can my organization participate as a delegation?

We welcome delegations from universities/student groups, youth-based organizations, national and international agencies. If you are interested in sending a delegation, reach out to us.

What is the application process breakdown and timelines?

Step 1: Register through the YALS website. Step 2: Once accepted, you receive an official invitation letter and payment directions. Step 3: You are added to the final participant list and assigned a unique ID number.
